MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE
Charge: Actively solicits and evaluates potential DCA members and make recommendations on member programs and awards to help recruit and retain members. The committee works to welcome new members through orientation at the meetings, and through a Peer Guide process by which new members are paired with an existing member to help guide them through the first year of membership.

Composition: The Chairs of each committee are appointed by the President at the Mid Year Meeting. The Vice Chairs are appointed by the Chair at the Mid Year Meeting. The position of chair and vice chair alternate every two years between regular members and associate members. Members of the committee are self selecting, though the President can appoint members to the committee.

Mission Statement

Actively solicit and evaluate potential DCA members and make recommendations on member programs and awards.

2010 Achievements

Membership

a.     Regular Membership – Net increase of six (6) from 52 to 58

b.     Associate Membership – Net increase of one (1) from 88 to 89

In the current economic environment, just holding the members we have was significant, but gaining a total of seven was an added bonus.

Participation

a.     Mid-Year Meeting – attendance 2009 = 179 and 2010 = 143.

b.    Fall Board Meeting – attendance 2009 = 86 and 2010 = 83

c.     Convention – attendance 2010 = 299 and 2011 = 300

d.    Auction results – were off 15% from 2009

Participation, again with the economic environment attendance and donations were good.

Equipment Survey

We had a 40% response rate, which is in the average range of survey responses.  The results showed an 8% increase in 2010.

2011 Goals and Objectives

Our 2011 goal is to increase the current member levels (of both Members and Associate) from 2010, with the market in a moderate upturn and the continued increase of acquisitions within our segment this again will be a challenge for us all in 2011.

Our goal for membership is to gain a net five (5) regular members (to 63) and a net five (5) associate members (to 94)

Return to our 2008/2009 levels in participation, as measured by attendance at events is strong, representing a healthy association.

2011 Initiatives
  • How to increase the current membership?
  • How to grow in 2011 and beyond
  • ConExpo membership drive (member support)
  • ICUEE membership drive (member support)
  • To continue to show value to our membership

Membership:

DCA policy should reflect making membership a value to all qualified individuals in all Member companies. Make diversity a strength of the DCA.  The process of becoming a member and maintaining membership must be affordable and uncomplicated.
  • The committee’s activities will be directed by the continued development and execution of its Membership Plan.
  • The committee will serve to develop initiatives that help drive membership value and increase enrollment of its contractor and associate
  • The committee will strive to make diversity a strength of the DCA, while maintaining an affordable and unencumbered means to membership.
  • The committee will regularly assess and assure that membership value is in accordance with its member’s expectations via a “member needs survey.”
