Charge: Recommends educational programs for the Association that would be of interest to the membership, many of which are technical in nature. The committee’s primary focus is the Fall Best Practices Conference. The committee also helps to coordinate a DCA session for conferences such as UCT (Underground Construction Technology) and ICUEE (International Construction Utility Equipment Expo).

Composition: The Chairs of each committee are appointed by the President at the Mid Year Meeting. The Vice Chairs are appointed by the Chair at the Mid Year Meeting. The position of chair and vice chair alternate every two years between regular members and associate members. Members of the committee are self selecting, though the President can appoint members to the committee.

Mission Statement:

The Education committee helps to identify topics and speakers that are of interest to the members of DCA.  In addition, this committee also helps to coordinate a DCA Session for conferences such as UCT (Underground Construction Technology) and ICUEE (International Construction Utility Equipment Expo) when needed. The education committee will also assist the DCA in identifying subjects to present at the annual Professional Development Conference.

 2010 Achievements:

 The business session held at our mid-year meeting at La Costa was a very informative session on hiring “Authorized Workers”. This subject was presented as a result of interest given to our education committee to develop.

Plans were finalized on a panel discussion for the use of GPS in our industry. Representatives from contractors to manufacturers will share their knowledge and use of this type of equipment. Dale Mykyte will moderate this session which will be presented at one of our business sessions at the annual conference in Puerto Rico.

2011 Initiatives:

• Help to develop subjects for the Professional Development Conference that will be held after the Fall Board Meeting for the DCA.
• Discuss upcoming meetings and topics or speakers that are of interest to the members in DCA. Accept new topics as they arise and prioritize our subjects with the group.
• Discuss the ICUEE Show in Louisville Kentucky in October and any requests to provide a session during this event.
